NEW YORK — At least 80 people protesting in New York against the US financial system and Wall Street practices were arrested in the first big crackdown since demonstrators began camping on city streets a week ago.

"About 80 arrests were made," a spokesman for the New York Police Department told AFP. Most of the detained protestors were accused of blocking traffic and government facilities, and resisting arrest.

One person was charged with assaulting a police officer and one officer suffered a shoulder injury, the department spokesman said.

The main protest website, occupywallst.org, said between 80 and 100 people had been arrested, most of them in the Union Square area of Manhattan. Footage on the site showed police corralling a crowd with orange plastic mesh.

The Occupy Wall Street protest began on September 17 in the vicinity of the heavily guarded New York Stock Exchange. A week later, a hardcore of demonstrators remained camped around the clock in a small nearby park.

Although only loosely organized, protestors have persevered despite a heavy police presence and several days of rain. The demonstrators communicate constantly through YouTube, Twitter and other online platforms.

They say they are motivated by anger against the huge disparity between the very rich in the country and the growing number of people struggling in the aftermath of the US financial crisis and recession.

Cytat:
Small groups of demonstrators in major American cities have started their own "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrations and organizers are planning further actions in more cities across the United States.

A diverse coalition of people have pledged to occupy Wall Street until something is done about corporate greed and the financial system's undemocratic influence on the U.S. government.

The protesters have been camped out in New York’s old Liberty Plaza, one block from the Federal Reserve, since Saturday.

A Report from the Frontlines: The Long Road to #OccupyWallStreet and the Origins of the 99% Movement

How Anonymous, AmpedStatus, the NYC General Assembly, US Day of Rage, Adbusters and Thousands of Individual Actions Led to the Occupation of Liberty Park and the Birth of a Movement

As the occupation of Wall Street moves into its third week, there are many questions about the organizers behind the ongoing protests and the origins of the 99% Movement. As one of the many people who actively supported the effort, and helped launch the 99% Movement, I will give my perspective on the events leading up to the occupation of Liberty Park.

As I understand it, the #OccuppyWallStreet 99% Movement is a decentralized non-violent rebellion against economic tyranny. It is a leaderless movement that has been dependent upon tens of thousands of individuals taking it upon themselves to take action and fight back against their own personal financial hardships, and in defense of their family and friends who are desperately struggling to make ends meets.

Wall Street Occupied! 700 airline pilots join swelling protest in New York City

UK Daily Mail
Wed, 28 Sep 2011 02:44 CDT

Wall Street saw yet another surge in protesters today - as hundreds of Continental and United Airlines pilots demonstrated in New York City's financial district.

Over 700 hundred activists, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) carriers, took their grievances to the streets as they protested for wages and benefits in light of a stalled merger between the airlines.

The demonstration coincided with the 11th straight day the Occupy Wall Street encampment, which has seen thousands of demonstrators descend onto downtown Manhattan - and hundreds arrested.

Continental's ALPA unit announced the union rally, saying the company needed to 'get serious' about negotiating a joint contract.

United officials have said they want a fair contract and have been meeting with pilots from both unions since August 2010, arguing that none of the major sections dealing with work rules, pay, scope/job protection or retirement/benefits has been resolved.

Management wanted a deal in place by the end of 2011, but said over the summer the target would be missed. No new date has been set.

We are occupying Wall Street. We will not be moved.

http://october2011.org/

Without anyone having to set themselves on fire, a group of nonviolent fed-up people, young and old, has sparked something new. In less than two weeks they have gone through all of the stages of public protest: being ignored, mocked, attacked, and beginning to win.

People are joining together across race, age, gender, and culture. Labor unions are joining in a movement that was not begun by labor unions. Insider groups that would rather not be seen at protests are promoting this one. Cable television is denouncing police brutality. A conversation has been launched about the damage the wealthiest one percent is doing to the rest of us. And integral to the demand being made for social justice is the demand to cut military spending and end immoral wars.

Now is the moment to nonviolently resist on Wall Street (http://occupywallst.org) and around the country (http://occupytogether.org), and beginning October 6th in Washington, D.C. (http://october2011.org).

Wall Street's servants on K Street, in the Pentagon, and in our government think Wall Street is comfortably far away.

Pledge now to bring the occupation to Washington on October 6th:

Police use dirty tricks to round up hundreds of peaceful Occupy Wall Street protesters as Wall Street criminals bribe NYPD Madison Ruppert
Activist Post

© Joshua Paul
Roughly 500 peaceful protesters marching in opposition to the corporatist takeover of America and the robbery of the United States by the banking and Wall Street elite were rounded up and arrested thanks to suspect tactics employed by the NYPD.

While many argue against the Occupy Wall Street protests based on partisan politics, the heavy union involvement, and the role Marxist organizations have played in the demonstrations, I think this is seeing the forest for the trees.

Regardless of what you think about those who organized the protest and the involvement of SEIU and other unions, you must realize that we are all being robbed and oppressed by the same people.

Furthermore, everyone must take notice of the tactics the NYPD has been using to attempt to shut down these protests. Even if you disagree with the Occupy Wall Street message, would you like to experience these same oppressive and highly questionable tactics when you demonstrate for your cause of choice?

One important fact to note is that the NYPD just received a massive donation from none other than the Wall Street criminal oligarchs themselves: JPMorgan Chase.

According to a press release posted on JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s official website, they "donated an unprecedented $4.6 million to the New York City Police Foundation."

Quite serendipitous timing for a gift which "was the largest in the history of the foundation" which elicited "profound gratitude" from the New York City Police Commissioner, Raymond Kelly.

Clearly the Wall Street oligarchy is doing the only thing they know: attempting to pay off the NYPD to side with them over the people they swore an oath to protect and serve.

Unfortunately the Occupy Wall Street movement can't counter JPMorgan's contribution, but at least it shows that the Wall Street criminals are running scared and resorting to nothing short of bribery to gain the allegiance of the NYPD.

I wonder what it would take for the NYPD to realize that JPMorgan is stealing their futures and the futures of their children as well.

$4.6 million is chump change to JPMorgan, and the officers of the NYPD are nothing more than swine they can use to keep the serfs constantly fighting each other instead of realizing that the enemies are not the police or the protesters but the criminal elite that rob all of us blind.

The highly suspicious tactics used by the NYPD were highlighted today when police made "a planned move on the protesters", according to The New York Times, which involved bringing in 10 Department of Correction buses (capable of holding 20 prisoners each) in preparation for a massive crackdown on activists.

It becomes quite clear that this was an engineered event when one considers the fact that the NYPD mobilized such a large fleet of buses in anticipation of a roundup of protesters.

When protesters attempted to cross the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday afternoon, police "seemed to guide [the protesters] on to the roadway" according to a media coordinator for the Occupy Wall Street protest, Jesse Myerson.

While Christopher T. Dunn of the New York Civil Liberties Union says that some high-level police supervisors initially announced via bullhorn that demonstrators who blocked the roadway would be subject to arrest, later police commanders were seen walking in front of marchers on the roadway.

The New York Times points out that "from a distance" it appeared "as if they were leading the way."

These were not rookie cops either; they clearly knew what they were doing as The New York Times points out, "The Chief of Department Joseph J. Esposito, and a horde of other white-shirted commanders, was among them."

The police allowed the demonstrators to make it about 1/3 of the distance to Brooklyn, then, as seen previously during the Occupy Wall Street protests, police surrounded activists with orange netting, trapping hundreds of people.

All those who were led into the roadway by police were arrested and are to be "charged with disorderly conduct, at a minimum" according to the NYT.

A 56-year-old psychotherapist from Brooklyn, Etan Ben-Ami, pointed out that police apparently consciously allowed protesters to claim the road before arresting them.

Ben-Ami told the NYT, "They weren't pushed back. It seemed that they moved at the same time." Ben-Ami left the Brooklyn Bridge's walkway to join the demonstrators on the road because, "It seemed completely permitted. There wasn't a single policeman saying 'don't do this'."

He reveals why so many people were lulled into a false sense of security by police before the roundup occurred, "We thought they were escorting us because they wanted us to be safe."

Clearly, the police had no such intention and were just attempting to get the protesters in such a position where they could swoop in and make it look justified.

Of course, the police have denied any such action, regardless of the clearly premeditated nature to the action, evidenced by the roll-out of Department of Correction busses earlier that day.

Paul J. Browne, the head NYPD spokesman, claims that, "This was not a trap. They were warned not to proceed."

Why then, Mr. Browne, were senior officers seen leading the crowd and why would so many think it was permissible and that the officers were actually escorting the demonstrators? Were they all deaf and/or delusional? I doubt it.

Among those arrested was a freelance reporter for The New York Times, Natasha Lennard, who was later released. It is unclear what charges, if any, are being levied against her or if they just let her go without any hassle due to her affiliation with the corporate mainstream media giant that is the NYT.

Interestingly, a correspondent for AlterNet, Kristen Gwynne, remarked that "There are fancy-looking press in suits, totally separate from everyone else, fifty feet from us" while others shared the fate of the activists who were trapped in the roadway by police.

One might assume that these "fancy-looking press in suits" were representatives of the corporate media which has made a concerted effort to deride and insult the Occupy Wall Street protesters, as I covered in a previous article.

Gwynne reported that activists were trapped in the rain waiting for police to arrest them, huddled under umbrellas.

Gwynne reported that New York City buses were used to take arrested protesters away and after about an hour of updates from Gwynne, no word was received and she is assumed to be in police custody.

It is worth noting that the numbers being published by news outlets are not wholly consistent.

The New York Times is running with the number of 500 while the NY Daily News has published that roughly 700 people were arrested by what they call "An army of cops".

This is the second Saturday in a row in which protesters were arrested by the NYPD using highly controversial tactics. The NYPD vehemently denies tricking the protesters but the media and protesters' account of the events seems to contradict their claims.

Just last week Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna's name spread across the Internet like wildfire after he sprayed women with pepper spray that were corralled in the same orange netting.

Hopefully today's incident will receive similar attention as it is a perfect example of how police goad activists into a situation in order to arrest them when they otherwise couldn't, in an attempt to weaken the movement and break the will of protesters.

Occupy Wall Street Protests Full Of Useful Idiot Communists And Socialists
By - Lee Rogers

Most of these useful idiots protesters know absolutely nothing about how the global financial system works and know less than nothing about the central banking systems of the world.  Central banks like the Federal Reserve System and the European Central Bank have been setup by design to implement a debt based monetary system that has been used to turn the vast majority of people into debt slaves.  They create money out of nothing and then charge interest on top of the money they create out of nothing through loans.  Even the United States government borrows money from this system and because of that they have to implement draconian tax schemes on the people just so they can pay back the interest on the debt.

oj tam, oj tam - zamiast wierzyć w brednie z forum poszukałem u źródła prawdy - czyli w CNN.

Wink

Kalle Lasn

Biography
Kalle Lasn is the driving intellectual force behind the anti-corporate Adbusters Media Foundation.

In his writings, Lasn rails against the modern world and the progress that has made everyone’s life better. “The aggregate level of American life fulfillment peaked in 1957, and with a couple of brief exceptions, it’s been downhill from there,” he writes in his book Culture Jam: How to Reverse America's Suicidal Consumer Binge -- and Why We Must. Lasn calls the car “arguably the most destructive product we humans have ever produced.”

Lasn’s utopia is far from that of most Americans. He recommends “Not just a carbon tax, but a global across-the-board pricing system.” An example of life in this brave new world? “Your private automobile will cost you, by some estimates, around $100,000. And a tankful of gas, $250.”

The Adbusters Media Foundation (AMF) is a not-for-profit, anti-consumerist organization founded in 1989 by author/activist Kalle Lasn and wilderness cinematographer Bill Schmalz in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Foundation describes itself as "a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advance the new social activist movement of the information age.

According to journalist Aaron Klein, the September 17 New York City protests—which ultimately drew about 1,000 participants—apparently represented “the culmination” of a campaign by Wade Rathke, founder of ACORN and president of an SEIU local in New Orleans, who in March 2011 had issued a call for “days of rage in ten cities around JP Morgan Chase.” Rathke's efforts were supported by Stephen Lerner, an SEIU board member and radical-left organizer who candidly aims to “destabilize the folks that are in power and start to rebuild a movement”; “bring down the stock market”; “bring down [the] bonuses” of executives in the financial sector; and “interfere with their ability to ... be rich.”

Between 2001 and 2011, AMF received $176,500 in grants from the Glaser Progress Foundation, and $309,773 from the Tides Foundation.

This reads like a who's who of every local communist party member and leftwing hardcore fulltime professional "Activist" out there.

Pop some of those "foundations" and orgs into discover the networks like for instance, "PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA"...you will be amazed at how the same cast of characters keep coming through loud and clear.

Just like those who are the movers behind THIS occupy Fishing trip are all the same cast of familiar characters.

Don't allow your justified disenchantment with all that we are facing to be used against you...because that is what these people do. They create the shit situation, then use that to move people who are pissed off about it to progress THEIR cause. They do not give a SHIT what you want or think, they want to bring on a communist style Utopian warped societal system where YOU are going to be a good worker bee in the hive they create and manage while they lord over you from their elitist lofty position.

If you think things are tuff under a capitalist society?....you ain't seen nothing yet...

I'm sure I could find more connections easily and that the surface is hardly scratched here.
