A £20 million mini-series about the Kennedys has been shelved by a channel in the US following pressure from surviving members of the family.

The eight-part drama, which stars Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy and Greg Kinnear as John F Kennedy, is now unlikely to ever be shown in the States, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Surviving Kennedy family members Maria Shriver and Caroline Kennedy reportedly lobbied for the History Channel to cancel plans to screen the show, which depicts JFK as a womaniser.

Shriver, who is married to Arnold Schwarzenegger, is said to have used her contacts in Hollywood to get the project dropped.

A spokesman for the History Channel said: "While the film is produced and acted with the highest quality, after viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand.

"We recognise historical fiction is an important medium for storytelling and commend all the hard work and passion that has gone into the making of the series, but ultimately deem this as the right programming decision for our network."

The series could still be seen by British viewers if it is picked up by a UK broadcaster.

Racja ale nigdy nie wiadomo jakie były prawdziwe powody takiej decyzji. Zatrudniaja sławnych aktorów ,wydaja kupe kasy i potem nie pokazują w US. Chyba po obejrzeniu calego serialu ktoś sie przestraszył że zadużo pokazali ,albo tak jak mówisz nie chcą zniszczyć wizerunku JFK i pokazywac go jako kobieciaża.
